In November 2021 Fladbury fishery was seriously affected by high Phosphate levels kindly measured and highlighted by Glyn Marshall of Worcester AA.

The Society contacted the E.A. and we learnt that they were already aware and dealing with an issue just upstream of Fladbury.

This incident throughout the last 3 months of 2021 pushed the fish downstream and several matches on both banks blanked throughout this period. The fishery was still adversely affected when the season closed in March 2022.

This incident and subsequent News Reports has made the Society very aware of a national problem with river pollution which appears to be totally out of control.

Many Angling Clubs are voicing their concerns but the Society is powerless to influence the situation, all we can do is make members aware of the situation via the website and publish member’s contributions.

Water Quality Monitoring Network

As you may have heard the Society has joined with Glyn Marshall (Worcester AA) and the Angling Trust in their Pilot Scheme within the Severn catchment area to monitor River Water Quality.

The Angling Trust "Water Quality Monitoring Network" (WQMN) went live early May 2022 and the Society began to measure water quality at Jubilee Bridge in May 2022 and planning to continue to take measurements for the foreseeable future.

Bailiff Andy (who lives local) has volunteered to take the monthly measurements for the Society and supply the data to the Angling Trust.

For the benefit of the members we will be publishing the results graphically on the Society Website.- see WQMN page.
