2/12/2023 Fourth Winter League Match at Fladbury
Seven turned out on a day that the fog never lifted and it never got above -2 degrees all day. The river was pacey, cold and over the platforms, something to be said for parking behind your peg.
Result;- Steve Cox in peg 2 weighed 3-5-0. Gary Buzzard in peg 26 weighed 2-1-0 and H. Potter in peg 6 weighed 1-11-0.
Outcome;-
A typical November match where only Chub were caught. The Slack in peg 2 won with three Chub on bread and the opposite end slack in the mouth of the channel, peg 26 was second with one Chub on double Pinky.
Thanks to H. Potter for weighing in.
After four hours we got away early after pushing vehicles out of the mud.
Series;- H. is on 11 & Frank on 14 points, with one match to go.
Next Match;- Next match is the final Winter League match at Fladbury 16/12/2023.
18/11/2023 Third Winter League Match at BAA B/W Bridge 42
Six turned out and the forecast was rain but we had a mild November day on a coloured Canal. Nick pegged to the right of the Bridge, with no Bonus Peg.
Result;- Andy Lacey weighed 3-13-0, Keith weighed 2-6-0 and Nick weighed 2-3-0.
Outcome;-
A strange match, the two middle pegs (3 & 4) facing the wall with no features struggled with 2 or 3 bites all day. Peg 2 had a good Bream for second but again only 2 bites all day, they didn’t want to know punch or worm. The two end pegs (5 & 6) had quality Roach to 1-9-0, peg 5 on Pinky, the winner on bronze maggot. Andy had 4 quality Roach and said he pulled out of a fifth, a convincing win.
Next Match;- Next week we have a scramble on Riddings. That’s the 25th November.
Bank Clearing;-
We are again planning to clear the pegs after the flooding, with very little rain forecast this week perhaps Wednesday the 22/11/23 or Thursday the 23/11/23.
Final Aggregate – The Chris Green Memorial Match
Transferred to the BewdleyAC stretch of the Droitwich Canal.
With Fladbury down but motoring through we transferred to a Canal. Ten turned out and we pegged 5 either side of the Bridge, Frank drew the BP.
Result;- Nick Cullis weighed 7-3-0, Andy weighed 6-10-0 and Steve Cox weighed 3-14-0.
Outcome;- A cold November day with the first frost of the year, the colour looked good with no boats all day. Andy only had to turn up to win the Aggregate Series, well done Andy, consistent all season.
Thanks to the Guys for pegging out and weighing in and thanks to BewdleyAC for accepting the match with two days notice.
Next Match;- The third WL match 18/11/2023 on the BAA Bham/ Worc. Canal Bridge 40-41 parking at the Stoke Prior Club car park. That’s just inside Westonhall Road off Shaw’s Lane, there’s a £2 peg fee.
Reminder;- The Bournville Club have booked pegs 13 to 26 next Saturday 18/11/2023, we have some work to do to prepare the pegs in time, checking the Weather forecast Wednesday is favourite.

A hard match for some on what most believe is the toughest pool on the complex. Using one side of the pool allowed Jan to fish the method with banded hard pellets for a convincing win with fish to 8 or 9lb. Nick caught shallow feeding maggot. Well done Jan you showed the guys how to do it.
