20/7/2024 “PW Trophy” match at TBF Fladbury

Turnout was affected by holidays and match clashes, Andy Lacey drew the Bonus Peg.

Result;-

Keith Kite 5-10-0, Frank Bagley 4-8-0, Brian Burton 4-2-0.

Outcome;-

The river looked ok, nice pace & a bit of colour. Low turnout meant that we were able to space the pegs out using pegs 4, 7, 13, 19, 22 & 24. Keith in peg 24 caught 5-10-0 of quality Roach on the GB feeder with pellet. Frank in peg 22 had Perch & Dace for 4-8-0 but pestered with Pike all day.

Aggregate Table;- Brian on 15, Andy on 17, & Frank on 28.

Next Match;-

27/7/2024 – Second Spring League Match at Packington Little Gearies

3/8/2024 – Leamington AA Jubilee Pools on Horseshoe Pool.

Bank Clearing Sunday 11/8/2024;- Don’t forget the next Bank Clearing session, we have had the tractor down again so the access is superb, the main task is clearing either side of the steps so strimmers & Scythes are required.

13/7/2024 First “Spring League” match at TBF on Club Pool

Back on the Pools with 10 out, Glen drew the Bonus Peg.

Result;-

Glen 70-15-0, Pete 62-4-0, H. 45-12-0.

Outcome;-

The match was won in pegs 1 & 2 using the same method Caster Shallow, third and fourth was on the opposite bank with pegs 13 & 15.

Winner cleaned up winning the Pools, the WTA & the BP, well done Glen.

The winning method caused a lot of discussion on the chat group, described as “Tap, Tap, Overshot”, that’s match fishing, you have to be on the winning method & bait. Next match on pools will be very different.

Thanks to Pete for weighing in & thanks to TBF for providing the scales.

Spring League Table;-

First Match, Glen 1, Pete 2, H. 3 points.

Next Match;-

20/7/2024 – PW Trophy at Fladbury

27/7/2024 – Second Spring League Match at Packington Little Gearies

7/7/2024 Fourth Agg. match switched to the Droitwich Canal

With reports that BAA Pershore Right Bank was totally overgrown and the BAA not being very helpful we switched to the Droitwich Canal. Ironically we found the Canal Pegs were also overgrown. Nine turned out.

Result;-

Nick Cullis 6-6-0, Gary Buzzard 5-6-0, Andy Lacey 3-9-0.

Outcome;-

We had continuous heavy showers throughout the match, more like April than July but the sun did come out for the weigh in. The weights came from the left side of the bridge and the culvert pegs suffered most with the influx from the roads. Nevertheless, five did catch and the winner had a surprise 3lb Terrapin which was quickly returned. So, four Aggregate matches completed but three of them on canals.

Thanks to Roger, H. & Gary for pegging out & weighing in. Thanks also goes to the Bewdley AC for again accepting our late change of venue.

Aggregate Table;-

After four matches Brian Burton is on 12, Andy on 13, H. on 15 & Gary on 16 points.

Next Match;-

13/7/2024 – First Spring League match at TBF Club.

20/7/2024 – PW Trophy at Fladbury

27/7/2024 – Second Spring League Match at Packington Little Gearies

22/6/2024 Third Aggregate Match – The Fladbury Cup

With a weekend full of options with a Saturday charity match and a Yardley Ex Sunday match at Fladbury twelve turned out for the Fladbury Cup, the first match back on the river.

Result;-

H. Potter 9-14-0 peg 19, Andy Lacey, 5-11-0 peg 11, Brian Burton 4-6-0 peg 4.

Outcome;-

A strange match, this time of the year you want to be near the weir but it was the middle section that produced. H. had a big Bream around 5lb plus some decent Roach and Perch all on the ground bait feeder on red maggots. Andy Lacey also had quality Roach and Perch.

Aggregate Table;-

After three matches Brian Burton is on 7 points, Andy Lacey is on 10 points and H. Potter is on 11 points.

Next Match;-

6/7/2024 – Fourth Aggregate match at BAA Pershore Right Bank.

13/7/2024 – First Spring League match at TBF Club.

15/6/2024 Final “Winter Pools Series” match at LP Highland

Result;-

Nick Cullis 72-3-0, Stephen Bedford 51-7-0, Frank Bagley 51-6-0.

Outcome;-

A superb match with the fish feeding. After a couple of hours we had a thunder storm directly overhead followed by a prolonged hail storm which put the fish down for a while. Thanks to Andy & Pete for weighing in.

Winter Pools Table;-

With leader Glen missing the match the end of series cash was up for grabs. Pete won the series with 22 points, Andy had 24 and Frank sneaked in with 28 points.

Next Match;-

22/6/2024 – Back on the river with the Fladbury Cup.

25/5/2024 Fourth “Winter Pools Series” match at Shrewley Pools

Ten turned out for a match at Shrewley, earlier we had switched the pegs after finding lots of scum down the bottom end. We had the left bank and parking was excellent. New member Mark V. joined us and Andy C. drew the Bonus Peg.

Result;-

Nick Cullis 26-1-0, Brian Burton 18-6-0, Glen Beavon 11-1-0.

Outcome;-

A frustrating match, dry & sunny with Carp on the surface everywhere but not feeding, generally you couldn’t get a bite fishing down. The winner caught shallow leaving the bait stationary feeding 4 pints of maggots awaiting bites. The pool seems to be heavily stocked but we found the fish in a strange mood, that’s fishing. Thanks to Andy, Marcus & new member Mark for weighing in.

Winter Pools Table;-

With one match to go Pete & Glen are both on 14 points.

Next Match;-

9/6/2024;- Next it’s the second session of Bank Clearing.

5/6/2024;- The final match of the Winter Pools series at Lower Park on Highland Pool.

4/5/2024 Third “Canal Series” match at Tibberton Bridge 25

Eight turned out for a match at Tibberton, we found several moored boats but the Canal looked good.

Result;-

Brian Burton weighed 4-6-0, Gary Buzzard & Nick Cullis had 0-11-8.

Outcome;-

A Tough match with few bites, no skimmers caught & most had Bits.

Brian won the match easily, everyone else struggled for bites. Thanks to Roger & Gary for pegging out and H. Potter for weighing in.

Canal Series Table;-

After the third match in the series we have Gary on seven points with Frank on 15 & H. on 17 points. The Canal Series resumes in October when we include the Winter League Canal Matches.

25/5/2024;- Back to the Winter Pools series for the fourth of Five matches at Shrewley pools.

27/4/2024 Third “Winter Pools” match on Siblings A & B

Turnout 12 split over the two pools paying a first and second on both pools, Jan drew the Bonus Peg.

Result;-

Horseshoe Pool;- Glen Beavon 31-14-0, Stephen Bedford 23-1-0.

Doughnut Pool;- Chris Gregory 27-8-0, Roger Middleton 14-11-0.

Outcome;-

An interesting match with both pools fishing similarly. Thanks to Peter F. for stepping in to run this match.

Canal Series Table;-

After the third match in the series we have Peter Fawke on 9 with Andy & Glen on 11 points.

Next Match;-
