The "Girling Angling Society" holds "Election of Officers" every three years although the present committee with a couple of additions has held office for many years.

The Committee manage the Society by controlling Society Finances, managing Fladbury fishery and organising and running the matches.

The current committee were re-organised at the start of the 2017 season following the Secretary/ Treasurer's retirement. The responsibilities were split, Committee Members took on new roles and the Committee was increased to five members.

The Society holds regular committee meetings and issues are referred to the membership at the annual AGM which is held every January following the completion of the season.

Match Results and News is posted on the website and members are updated informally.

Dave Mullins

Chairman/ Trustee.

Dave has been a committee member for over 20 years and held the office of Chairman since 2000.

Frank Bagley

Secretary/ Website/ Trustee.

After over 20 years on the committee Frank takes on the Secretaries role in 2017 while continuing with the Website.

Peter has been a committee member since 2010 and now takes on the Treasurers duties in 2017.

Brian Barton

Club Match Bookings/ Match Secretary

Brian joined the committee in January 2017 and in 2018 accepted the role of promoting Fladbury Club Match Bookings.

Fishery Manager.

H. joined the committee in January 2017 and in 2018 accepted the role of Fladbury Fishery Manager.

Committee Objectives

In 2017 the Committee decided to re-new all of the 26 pegs with robust steps and platforms, the task was completed by June 2018.

In 2018 the Society registered ownership and access with Land Registry and by the end of the 2019 season 9 new pegs were produced in the lock stream.

In 2020 the Society negotiated with the land owner and cleared a raised Car Park in the field with a ramp down to access the pegs in the winter months.

The current objective is to simply keep the pegs fishable all season.

Remembering previous Girling AS Committee Members

Peter Whittingham

Peter decided to step down from the Secretary/ Treasurer role in 2016 after over 40 years of service although he remains within the Society and continues to help with bank clearing. The Society and Fladbury has been a huge part of his life, Peter filled both Secretary and Treasurer roles admirably for as long as anyone can remember.

We are all hugely grateful for his immense contribution over the years, Peter was awarded life membership in 2017.

Colin Edwards

Colin was a member of the Society for many years and served on the committee between 2000 and 2010. He left the Society due to poor health but still retains an interest in the Societies welfare.

Jim Tyler

Jim Tyler sadly no longer with us was a Society member for many years and served on the committee as a member and Chairman between 1986 and 2000, Jim was given life membership in 2006. Now best remembered for encouraging bank clearing by sponsoring the Cutters Cup and donating a cash prize for many years.

Jim passed March 2011, his efforts over the years are well remembered by his many friends in the Society.
